Somewhere in Between
Starts in the Other Place On the 1st Feb 2011
I was born in 1981, and have always wanted to be an artist. I was involved in several art groups and endeavours from my teens to the present, most noticably The Chispa Mural Project in 1998-99 as well as local community centres and fund raisers for the lgbt community, (The Quilt of Hope a painted panel on behalf of the ucc lgbt society, 2001). I studied Archaeology and Classical Civilisations in UCC for several years, ending in 2006.
I have exhibited and made art in between life and lectures mostly, anywhere I could sit and draw. I like to paint the lines and shapes in everything, people, portraits, objects and overlap them, to see both together at the same time. I like to sew and make historical clothing for weekends when I go off and be a viking with like minded re enactors, as well as learning new art techniques and applications all the time. The art in this display may seem random but it represents pieces I have worked on between classes and relationships, commissions and idle time, most started but rarely finished as new ideas appeared to me, combining images and designs from older art forms, myths and music, with modern designs and incorporating them into my work. Though I like to present this in negative line imagery I am not bound to the idea and will work any idea the best way it will fit in my mind.
